All volunteers to the Ripon Museums have the following responsibilities:
- To familiarise themselves with the introductory pack.
- To ensure they know who to approach for information/advice/support needed to perform their duties within the specific area of volunteering.
- Develop the background knowledge necessary to carry out their duties within their area of responsibility.
- To attend meetings organised within that area.
- To support the Museum Trust in all aspects by promoting events and by assisting in fundraising.
Education Team member:
- Adhere to guidelines for general volunteer role
- Be prepared to participate in educational visits, in costume as appropriate and performaing allocated tasks.
- Assist in development of educational literature and activities as appropriate.
- Participate in discussions/evaluations of educational visits.
- Attend meetings organised for education team.
- Mentor new members
- Be friendly and welcoming.
- Enjoy meeting the public.
- Able to handle money
All 3 museums are within walking distance of Ripon City Centre. The Prison and Police Museum is on St. Marygate, Ripon HG4 1LX; The volunteerhouse Museum is on Sharow View, Allhallowgate, Ripon HG4 1LE and the Courthouse Museum is on Minster Road, Ripon HG4 1QS

Preservation of historic buildings and artefacts, education services and responsible for The Prison & Police, The Workhouse and The Courthouse Museums in Ripon. We have around 140 volunteers who fulfil a variety of roles which range from helping with education visits to gardening, cataloguing the collections to keeping our accounts, repairing brickwork to researching the stories behind the buildings.
