Description of the role:

Volunteering with children is fun, rewarding and there is never a dull moment. Ripon Toy Library offers a range of opportunities for volunteers and anyone looking for relevant work experience. All our volunteers are given support so its a good way to boost your career. You don't necessarily need work experience but you will need to provide two references from people who know you from a work or training position and complete an application form. Volunteers can help with:
- Welcoming toy library users.
- Setting up and packing away the toys.
- Helping with play activities.
- Checking toys in and out, cleaning toys and annual stocktaking.
- Fundraising Events.
- Marketing and Communications.
- Distribution of posters and leaflets.
- Grant Applications.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

This role will suit someone who is sociable and enjoys communicating with children and families.

The role can be suited to your availability, e.g. 1-2 hours per week or per month. All new volunteers will receive training by an existing volunteer

The Toy Library aims to create a friendly and relaxed environment where babies and children up to the age of 9 years, their parents and carers can enjoy having a chat and making friends whilst children explore our large range of toys and equipment suitable for indoor and outdoor play. Parents and carers can discover what their children like and can borrow toys to try out at home before investing further in play items and toys. Run entirely by volunteers. Join or just stay and play. There are hundreds of toys, large and small to borrow and take home. Meeting time: 10.00am – 12.00 noon. As we are not a playgroup or creche children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
