Art Support - currently online
Orb Community Arts
Description of the role:

Orb runs several art and craft groups (currently held online, but will return to face to face group working when COVID allows). We are looking for individuals to support our art tutors in delivery of these sessions. You would help create a welcoming and supportive environment, assist service users with their artwork and encourage them to get involved and enjoy the activity.

If you know you way around computers and can also help to get service users up and running online that would be a bonus!

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

You don't need any formal qualifications, but we hope you will enjoy being creative, trying out new skills and techniques and understand the beneficial effect of creative work in promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.

Practical information:

Sessions are held weekly and run for approximately two hours and are currently online. When possible, the sessions will resume at Orb's base in Knaresborough. All Orb volunteers are DBS checked and receive full induction training.

Get in touch if you want to stay creative, connected and do something positive for your mental health and wellbeing - singing, writing, art, ukulele, guitar, piano, mindfulness, 1 to 1 phone or internet support, interactive 1-1 and group sessions and newsletters to help you stay creative, stay well and stay connected with your community. We can also offer IT support and advice to help connect with Orb activities on Zoom.

Orb promotes positive mental health and provides better life opportunities to those experiencing poor mental health through engagement in creative activities, learning, performance and volunteering. Whether it be art, music, singing, cooking, gardening, growing food, creative writing, photography, film-making or learning IT basics, Orb helps people overcome isolation, build skills and confidence, improve their well-being and play a valued role in the local community. Everyone has mental health - sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad - and Orb works to help keep people well in the community as well those experiencing longer term problems. Whether you want to access support or maybe volunteer, it's always worth getting in touch.
