Description of the role:

The well used phrase of "Serious Fun" describes exactly what you can share in with the Sea Cadets. There is an abundance of exciting, challenging and, above all, worthwhile activities to enjoy with committed and enthusiastic youngsters. At the same time you gain valuable experience in many diverse subjects and skills and also have the opportunity to obtain national qualifications.

As an adult instructor with the Sea Cadets, there are also a huge range of business, professional and personal development courses leading to national qualifications available to you and which are offered through learning partnerships with top institutions in their fields.

Juniors are aged 10-12 years and seniors are aged 12-18 years.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

No formal qualifications are required and this is an ideal opportunity for you to gain the qualifications that you wish or need for transfer across all aspects of your life. Enthusiasm, a sense of fun and the normal personal skills of life are all that are needed.

We are dedicated to helping the youngsters towards responsible adulthood by encouraging valuable personal attributes and high standards of conduct. your personal skills will be invaluable in assisting the cadets achieve that aim and your reward, in addition to the qualifications you achieve, will certainly be the pride and pleasure you will glean from high regards and reputation that our cadets enjoy.

Practical information:

Meeting times 7-9pm on Monday (seniors), Wednesday (band), Thursday (juniors) and Friday (seniors).

There will at times be some training/events at weekends but staff attendance will be voluntary and organised well in advance.
