Description of the role:

To visit collection box outlets within designated areas of Harrogate and the district in which Saint Michael's serve; distributing, recruiting new and periodically servicing long-standing Saint Michael's static collection boxes. Most volunteers offer one half day/full day per week, but a fortnightly commitment would be considered too. Key tasks: volunteering from reports generated by the fundraising team, support the efficient collection and receipt of funds from the collection boxes situated within your agreed area of responsibility and return to Saint Michael's on the day of collection. Support the Saint Michael's message effectively and positively by developing and maintaining relationships with outlets. Carry out the timely replacement of boxes, ensuring they are clean and labelled correctly with outlet name, box number and distribution date and site boxes in as prominent position as possible. Distribute and maintain the seasonal messages for boxes within your area of responsibility, in line with Saint Michael's planned promotions and ensure that relationships with contacts in outlets are maintained with the provision of up to date Saint Michael's literature. Adhere to all Hospice Policy and Procedures, attend all mandatory training and continually volunteer with the Fundraising team to continually improve and maintain a positive approach to managing collection boxes towards an efficient and profitable end.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Volunteers need to have the following attributes: Able to volunteer unsupervised and on own initiative, but in conjunction with the requirements and timings agreed by the fundraising team. Good organisational skills Reliable, adaptable to evolving procedures and willing to support a rota system for periods of your own and others holiday etc. Physically able to safely visit outlets and carry collection boxes Able to communicate in a courteous manner with supporters, with an on-going knowledge and interest in hospice purpose and activity Able and reliable to handle and secure money To adhere to all policies and procedures stipulated by the Hospice Readily available access to car and current driving license

Services offered from the Hospice include: lymphoedema support, day therapy, inpatient care, support for families and carers, bereavement support.
