Team Leader/Support Worker Role
6 hours a week
£11 per hour.
Home working with some face to face when required, expenses, laptop and mobile phone provided.

NWY ASBAH provide peer support, befriending, signposting, and advocacy, for people and families living in North & West Yorkshire who have, or are, affected by Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus
Responsible to the Project Manager, the team leader/support worker, will take responsibility for the ASBAH members located in the York, Wetherby, Harrogate district. Team leader/support workers will also be supported by NWY ASBAH volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• The team leaders will make regular welfare and befriending calls to their group.
• They will pass on information about our internal activities and peer support groups.
• They will research and pass on information about appropriate other services and groups relevant or required by their team.
• They will assist in co-delivering the peer support groups with volunteers and the projects manager with the expectation of:
o A weekly online peer support group: For adult members
o Weekly social media group communication: For teens
o Holiday online activity: For children
o 8 x face to face group support meetings and workshops: For parents, carers, siblings, and members in their team over the course of a year
o To support 8 x subsidised activities in the region over the course of a year
• To support and represent NWY ASBAH at clinics in Leeds and Bradford Hospitals
• The team leaders will report weekly to the project manager.
• They will feedback the needs of the members and be invited to represent their group at the trustee meetings

The team leaders will be required to attend regular CPD as provided by NWY ASBAH and will need to have some basic IT skills.

Person Specification

This role will suit a compassionate self-starter who is good at working independently and passionate about providing support.
No specific experience is necessary, however any skills from the charity and caring sectors would be preferred.
We are keen to recruit people who reside within the communities they will be supporting and encourage applications from marginalised and underrepresented groups.
