We are seeking an experienced accountant to take up the role of Treasurer for the Knaresborough Community Land Trust (CLT), established in 2018. Knaresborough CLT was set up to create community-owned affordable housing to benefit those living and/or working in Knaresborough. This is an exciting time for the CLT as we progress our membership drive and move towards the development of affordable homes, within the coming months.
The Treasurer is a member of the Board, which currently meets in Knaresborough about eight times a year. Board members are all volunteers and, as a member-led Community Benefit Society, we are regulated by the FCA. This is an excellent opportunity to join the organisation and contribute to its strategic direction, as we near the start of our first project. The Treasurer will take the lead on setting up the financial controls for the CLT and ensuring effective and timely reporting. The role will be rewarding and offer a challenge for someone wishing to be part of a ground-breaking initiative.
Our ideal Treasurer will have a number of years' experience in a similar role and be able to take the lead on setting up the financial controls and strategies required by our Community Benefit Society, and ensuring effective and timely reporting.
Any experience in property development, public engagement or fund-raising would also be useful.
Board meetings are held in Knaresborough on a Tuesday evening at approximately 6-week intervals. Other work (maybe 2-3 hours a week) would be from home.

We are a not-for-profit community-based organisation run by volunteers, which aims to deliver housing and other community facilities at permanently affordable levels, for local people.
CLTs act as long-term stewards of housing, ensuring that it remains genuinely affordable, based on what people actually earn in their area, not just for now but for every future occupier.
Knaresborough Community Land Trust is an open membership organisation – anyone who is 16 years or over and lives, works or studies in the Knaresborough area or surrounding villages can join.
